Located near Port Louis in the district of Pamplemousse, the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden is one of the most visited attractions in Mauritius. The garden is also known as the Mauritius Botanical Garden and is home to a wide variety of tropical plants, many of which are indigenous. The garden stretches over endless acres of land, and it said that it could take a week to see all of it. There are over 650 varieties of plants including 85 different varieties of palm trees from all over the world, giant Water lilies, Boababs, the Palmier Bouteille, medicinal plants, a spice garden, and many more. The gardens are open every day from 8:30 to 17:00 and it is recommended that visitors make use of the services of one of the guides that can be found near the entrance.
