The Edo-Tokyo Museum is dedicated to the history of Japan's capital city, Tokyo. The museum is housed in a building that stands out for its distinctive architecture and is located close to the Sumida River in the Ryogoku area of Tokyo.
On display are numerous intricately constructed and minutely finished scale models, a wealth of regalia from over the ages, and reconstructed historical buildings.
Many of the displays are interactive and user-friendly and most have explanations in English. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the museum usually has a special exhibition running that covers some aspect of the history, art, geography, or culture of Tokyo.
