Located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington DC, the White House has been the official residence and primary workplace of every US president since the year 1800. Over the years, the house has been renovated and extended to suit the needs of individual presidents and today it includes the West Wing, East Wing, Executive Residence, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, and Blair House, a guest residence. The property is a National Heritage Site and is owned by the National Park Service.

Tour requests must be submitted through one's Member of Congress up to three months in advance and no less than 21 days in advance. Tours are free of charge, self-guided, and scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Citizens of foreign countries must contact their embassies in Washington DC for assistance in submitting a tour request.
