Ambohimanga is a historic royal palace complex situated atop a magnificent forested hill in the highlands of Madagascar. The settlement dates back to the 15th century and the precolonial Merina Kingdom when the compound was referred to as Tsimadilo. Visitors can enjoy exploring the heavily fortified village area, sacred spaces, and the burial ground containing a number of royal tombs, in 2001 The Royal Hill of Ambohimanga was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
