The Debre Birhan Selassie Church in the heart of Gondar is one of Ethiopia's top tourist attractions. The interior walls depict ecclesiastical scenes and saints, and the ceiling is covered with 100's of faces of angels. Some of the highlights of the church are icons of the Crucifixion and the Holy Trinity above the entrance to the Holy of Holies. The floor above the church contains the curtained windows from where Emperor Eyasu II would watch ceremonies. The church is surrounded by a stone wall with 12 rock towers that represent the 12 Apostles.
