Flights between regions, parks and camps in East Africa are undertaken in light aircraft, most often in a Cessna Grand Caravan (12 or 13 seats).
The total baggage allowance for each passenger, inclusive of hand baggage and cameras, is 15kgs - and should be in soft or flexible bags. Most of the flights are operated by aircraft whose luggage compartments have limited volume and are of an irregular shape. It is thus more difficult to stow large rigid suitcases, which in an extreme situation, might have to be carried on the next available flight. Excess baggage will only be carried, at the sole discretion of the captain of the aircraft, if the payload of the aircraft and/or space permits and will be charged at the prevailing rate for carriage of freight. If passengers anticipate they will have excess baggage, it is recommended that they book a 'freight' seat, which permits confirmed carriage of an extra 75kgs.
