Immerse yourself in the nature and mysticism of Tinajani with this unique experience. We’ll set out on a short hike to an extraordinary tree—the only one that has managed to grow within the canyon, defying its surroundings and surpassing the typical growth of its kind. In its presence,
we’ll meditate and reflect on resilience, enveloped by absolute silence and connection with nature, as we watch the sun rise gently in the distance.

This journey blends dirt trails and rock formations, leading to a valley where thousands of towering puyas rise over the highlands. You can traverse the area by vehicle or bicycle. Here, we take a pause to enjoy a picnic in the heart of nature, surrounded by tranquillity and breathtaking views.

Just a few minutes from our camp, Ayaviri welcomes us with its rich history and colonial architecture. At the heart of the town, we will stroll through the main square and visit the Church of San Francisco de Asís, one of the most remarkable churches in the country, built on the foundations of an ancient Inca temple and restored in the 18th century.

Just 40 minutes from our camp, Pucará welcomes us with its rich history and traditions. We will visit a local workshop to witness the creation of the iconic Toritos de Pucará and explore the lithic museum, where remnants of its ancient pre-Inca culture are preserved. The visit concludes at the Church of Santa Isabel, a striking reflection of Andean-Catholic syncretism.

A 40 minutos de nuestro campamento, Pucará nos recibe con historia y tradición. Conoceremos la elaboración de los icónicos Toritos de Pucará en un taller local y exploraremos el museo lítico, donde se conservan vestigios de su antigua cultura preincaica. Finalizaremos con una visita a la Iglesia de Santa Isabel, reflejo del sincretismo andino y católico.

We set off from our camp to journey across 81 km (265,748 ft) of everchanging landscapes: striking geological formations, the vast Puya
de Raimondi forest, and the highest point at 4,600 m.a.s.l. (15,091 ft) We then descend to Vilavila to visit its lagoon and waterfall before continuing to Palca, where local artisans preserve the traditional art of alpaca textile weaving. The route follows the river, leading us to Lampa, home to the majestic Temple of Santiago. As our journey nears its end, we visit Pucará, where artisans breathe life into the legendary Toritos.

Partimos desde Tinajani para recorrer 81 km de paisajes cambiantes: formaciones geológicas, el extenso bosque de puyas de Raimondi y el punto más alto del trayecto, a 4,600 m.s.n.m. Luego descendemos hacia Vilavila para visitar su laguna y su cascada, y seguimos hasta Palca, donde los artesanos locales mantienen viva la tradición del tejido en alpaca. The Travesía between Cusco and Tinajani reveals a quieter side of southern Peru, with possible stops at lesser-known landmarks. In Andahuaylillas, a baroque church dazzles with Andean-Catholic artistry, while the Inca site of Raqchi preserves the grandeur of the Temple of Wiracocha. At Abra La Raya, the highest point on the route, the snow-capped Chimboya rises above the birthplace of the Vilcanota River.

La travesía entre Cusco y Tinajani une la ciudad imperial con los tesoros escondidos del sur andino. The Travesia between Tinajani and Titilaka crosses Peru’s southern highlands, where ancient valleys gradually merge with the stillness of Lake Titicaca. Possible stops along the route include Sillustani, overlooking Lake Umayo with chullpas that guard traces of a pre-Hispanic past; Lampa, the ‘Pink City’, featuring a historic church, old mansions, and catacombs; and Vilavila, where waterfalls flow through open grasslands and quiet ravines.
The journey takes approximately 4.5 hours by road.

The Travesia between Tinajani and Puquio follows a lesser-known route that reveals the most authentic spirit of the Andes. Possible stops include Sibayo, the “Enchanted Town”, where historic streets and a church recognised as a national monument preserve the Collagua legacy, and a highland reservoir that reflects the vast skies and the calm presence of the nearby highlands.
