The United Kingdom’s 2013 City of Culture, Londonderry is a thriving hub located in the northwest corner of Northern Ireland. The city - commonly referred to as Derry - has much to delight visitors, from rich historical sights to a great selection of entertainment venues, bars and restaurants. Londonderry is a completely walled city - and walking tours of these broad 17th-century city walls are highly recommended, as is a visit to the Tower Museum, which details a famous shipwreck that happened during the Spanish Armada. Don’t miss The Guildhall, a magnificent red-brick Gothic building which houses exhibitions, and the ‘open-air museum’ of the street murals in the area of Bogside, which provide a fascinating glimpse into Londonderry’s troubled past.
