Situated in County Antrim on the north coast of Northern Ireland, the Giant's Causeway was created as a result of the aftermath of a volcano eruption and cooling. According to legend, it was built by an Irish giant called Finn MacCool to be used as a crossing to confront his Scottish rival who was threatening Ireland. The site was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986, and it is regarded as the fourth greatest natural wonder in the United Kingdom.
