Situated just east of Medellin, the small town of Santa Elena is set high up in the mountains of Antioquia. Dubbed the ‘Flower Village’, it is known for its fertile soil, tropical climate, and its abundance of exotic flowers. Santa Elena exports its tropical flowers to international markets abroad and is known for its unique flower arrangements called ‘Silletas’. Each year visitors can attend the Flower Festival, or Feria de Las Flores, in nearby Medellin. Soak up the buzzing atmosphere and watch the amazing parade showcasing the floral splendour of Sana Elena. Visitors can look forward to visiting an organic flower farm, meeting a traditional Silletero (flower arranger), and spotting over 120 species of bird in the stunning natural surrounds. Other highlights include: hiking, biking, fishing, camping and kayaking in the vast Avri Regional Park and exploring the Laguna Circuit.
