English Bay is a picturesque shoreline where Vancouver meets the Pacific Ocean. It is surrounded by West Vancouver to the north, the City of Vancouver to the east, and the region from Kitsilano to Point Grey in the south. English Bay offers beautiful views of the Stanley Park Seawall, and also has cycling paths and walkways along the water.
Many of the restaurants in the area offer takeaways - ideal for beach picnics and strolls. The bay has a concession stand, a cafe, public washrooms, beach umbrella and chair rentals, kayak rentals and storage, a swimming raft with a large slide, two sand volleyball courts, and also offers visitors paid parking.
In addition to its accessibility and convenience, English Bay has dog-off-leash zones for pet owners and is also home to the Vancouver Polar Bear Swim Club. Each New Year’s, thousands gather at English Bay for the Polar Bear Swim.
