The Kenai Fjords National Park lies on the Kenai Peninsula in the state of Alaska in the extreme northwest of the United States of America. Most easily reached from the city of Seward, this breathtaking natural area, where ice caps melt into the ocean, offers unique wildlife to view. With cabin-stays available (at Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge), but no roads within the park, visitors can book boat tours of the tidewater glaciers from various operators along the waterfront in Seward. Be on the lookout for cormorants, puffins and bald eagles, as well as sea lions, killer whales and humpback whales (especially in the summer months). While in the area, don’t miss the chance to explore Exit Glacier, which is home to the Harding Icefield, one of only four remaining icefields in the United States.
