The town of Chicken is situated on the Taylor Highway in Alaska, near the Canadian border of Alaska at milepost 66.8 right at the Chicken Creek Bridge. This small town is home to only a few permanent residents, with the downtown area featuring a bar, gift shop, cafe, and salmon bake. The town of Chicken was once the mining hub for the Fortymile district. In 1886, ten years before the Klondike Gold Rush, gold was discovered on Franklin Creek and the community of Chicken was founded. Visitors to the town can enjoy historic tours and gold-panning.
