Located approximately 70km to the South East of Cape Town the cooler climate of the Elgin Valley is home to some stunning vineyards and orchards. As you leave Somerset West and begin the climb up Sir Lowry's Pass, 420m above sea level, you will catch a glimpse of the Gantouw Pass, a national monument since the 1950's. It was the route the early settlers took with ox wagons to access the rich and fertile Helderberg basin. The rocks bear the ruts cut by the wagon wheels, though many perished on the arduous route.

Paul Cluver and Oak Valley, neighbouring farms, have combined to give unrivalled opportunity to ride. Paul Cluver forms part of the UNESCO world heritage site, the Kogelberg Biosphere with half of the estate being set aside for conservation into perpetuity. With a multitude of purpose built trails we can spend a day with over 1800m of ascent or take a more relaxed approach and spend a few hours enjoying some of the routes embraced by the ABSA Cape Epic.
