Our purpose is the Pursuit of Happiness, and Wolwedans exists to inspire a new way.

Located in the heart of NamibRand Nature Reserve, Wolwedans is more than a collection of camps. It is a collection of dreams. In this land of blue skies and endless plains you will find beauty to feed your soul, tranquility to clear the mind, and space for your imagination to fly. You may feel completely overwhelmed at first, but then quickly settle into a landscape and immersive experience which is ‘simply out of this world’.

When Wolwedans was first set up with four igloo tents back in 1995 by the late Albi Brückner and his son Stephan, they had no idea where the journey would lead. Today, still under the management of Stephan, Wolwedans sports five tourism properties, an active Foundation and the Desert Academy – all carried by a bracing, forward-looking, holistic and, at times, what some people would call a radical Vision, themed “The AridEden Project”.

Wolwedans will quietly continue to do its work, contributing in a meaningful way to the conservation of NamibRand, the development of Namibia and its communities, and driving Rural Revival, the building of a Desert Based Economy.

Maintaining a healthy balance of People | Planet | Profit, and hence Sustainability, has been in our DNA from the word go. It drives all our actions, Past | Present | Future. It defines our conscious sense of ‘Being’ and, it hopefully inspires a new way (of going about doing business).

Be our guest and become part of the change we all want to see.

Positioned on the edge of a 250-metre high dune, Dune Camp has the most extraordinary views across the Namibrand Reserve. The lounge, dining area and tea room are spread out across a series of interlocking decks, ensuring that every corner enjoys views across the endless landscape to the mountains beyond. The tented and wooden structures are perfectly designed for the desert, with canvas sides that can be opened to capture the cool breeze in summer, and rolled down in winter to keep you warm.

Dune Camp has a unique charm which appeals to travellers looking for a down to earth but stylish experience. The main areas are intimate and the fire pit encourages conversation between guests. We seat our guests at a long shared table for dinner, but private tables can also be requested.

Dune Camp sleeps a maximum of 16 guests in 8 rooms: 6 tented rooms and 1, 2-bed tented family suite.

The tented rooms are built on wooden platforms, raised off the ground, and are comfortable and spacious. All have twin or King-size beds, as well as full indoor and outdoor bathrooms (no bathtubs). Outside, the private decks allow for plenty of lounging around and each comes with the ‘Wolwedans Chiller’ – a small water- filled silos to cool off in during hot summer months.

The tented family suite is located a short walk away (just over the dunes) from the main camp and is ideally suited for families. It has two en-suite rooms and a children’s sala room with two single beds sharing the bathroom with adults. The family suite has a lounge & spacious deck, plus outdoor bathrooms and two small water- filled silos, also known as ‘Wolwedans Chillers’. Perfect for cooling off during those hot summer months.

Wolwedans is about experiences, people and the endless landscapes that will shift your perspective forever.  Where you lay your head is important but it’s nothing compared to what you will experience with us on the Namibrand reserve.
