Jock Safari Lodge was the first private game lodge in the Kruger National Park and is situated between Malelane and Skukuza in the south-western part of the Kruger. The lodge has exclusive traversing in its own private concession of 6,000 ha in the southern part of the Kruger with Big Five sightings on offer. Morning and evening game drives in open landrovers with experienced rangers offer the thrill of close encounters with Africa’s Big Five. As it is a private concession, game drives continue after nightfall when all the roads are closed to other Kruger visitors, allowing you to search for nocturnal animals in seclusion.

The theme of the Lodge is set by the famous animal classic written at the time of South Africa’s gold rush, Jock of the Bushveld. It has a romantic colonial charm infused with elements of Zulu and Shangaan culture. Luxury chalets conjure up the gracious style of old world elegance in this unspoilt wilderness. Each of the 12 thatched chalets has an outdoor sala with day bed, romantic bathroom and outdoor shower overlooking the riverbed. Other facilities include air-conditioning, minibar, ceiling fan, safe and tea/coffee facilities. Animal sightings can be enjoyed whilst relaxing at your private plunge pool on your game-viewing deck.

Children are welcome and one child under the age of twelve years may share with their parents. Children under the age of 6 years are not permitted to join the game drives. There’s a TV room / library with DVD’s, videos, and games for children.

Other activities include game walks, bird watching, stargazing, frogging safaris, visits to rock art sites and spa treatments at the Pilgrims Rest Spa.

About 800 metres from Jock Safari Lodge, lies Little Jock which is of exactly the same standard but with only four suites so that it is ideal for a family party.
