Deception Valley Lodge is an oasis in the Kalahari of Botswana, a lodge close to the famous Okavango Delta but located in a very different ecosystem.
What makes Deception Valley Lodge unique is the rare opportunity to meet and explore this remarkable environment with bushman guides of the San peoples, one of the oldest cultures in Africa. You will be able to explore the bush on foot, while your guide shows you traditional hunting and survival skills and exposes you to the culture and crafts of the San people, who over the centuries have adapted their lives to survive in a most inhospitable environment.
Standard suites are built on a wooden platform, slightly elevated of the ground giving a private deck to enjoy nature. Each of the 6 very spacious suites feature a bedroom, separate lounge area, and en-suite bathroom with Victorian bath and outdoor shower. For an exclusive experience the stunning suites offer a breathtaking escape into the beauty of the Kalahari with views into the savanna and thorn bushes.

Afternoon and night safaris in custom built game viewing vehicles afford visitors the chance to see a variety of different species which include the magnificent Kalahari lion, cheetah, leopard as well as giraffe and kudu. The elusive brown hyena has also been seen on occasion. Night safaris reveal a fascinating world of nocturnal species. Deception Valley is also a bird lover's paradise.
A visit to the Deception Valley Lodge would be incomplete without experiencing the San cultural walk with the Naru-tribe. The desert comes alive when sharing the eyes of those who have lived in the region for tens of thousands of years.
