The independent Elephant Camp West facility offers secluded suites each boasting a private viewing deck over the gorge and a private plunge pool. Other facilities include a comfortable lounge, bar and dining area and a range of spa treatments available in the comfort of your own room.

The Elephant Camp West
Elephant Camp West’s four suites cater for groups and families traveling to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The suites are of the same size, style and design as the current rooms at The Elephant Camp. Each suite has a bedroom area (interchangeable beds to suit king or twin), a lounge area with comfortable fold-out sleeper-couch style beds which enable the room to cater for small families, a spacious bathroom (bath with a view, indoor & outdoor showers) as well as a private deck and plunge pool overlooking the Victoria Falls National Park with spectacular views of the spray of the Falls on the horizon. The camp has a beautiful central lounge area with bar and indoor dining room. The expansive deck offers an ideal alfresco dining location - perfect for savouring culinary excellence, whilst taking in the sweepings vistas of Africa. Cuisine is of the same high standard as that offered by The Elephant Camp; catering staff are managed by the Executive Chef from The Elephant Camp. The Elephant Camp West serves as an extension of The Elephant Camp, Victoria Falls, as well as a stand-alone facility offering an exclusive experience for up to 16 guests. During construction of The Elephant Camp West bush clearing was kept to a bare minimum in accordance with Wild Horizons’ environmental policy. The suites were sited to maximise privacy through the use of existing trees and vegetation. Other green initiatives implemented include using ‘grey water’ systems, worm farms for bio-waste and solar water heaters as well as the planting of 50 indigenous trees and the establishment of a nursery to ensure the continued forestation of the Sanctuary. The Canopy Tour is a fantastic family-friendly adventure that consists of a network of slides, trails and rope bridge walkways within the Batoka Gorge. The activity and offers incredible views of Zambezi rapids, Victoria Falls Bridge & the spray of the Falls. Located next to the Wild Horizons Lookout Café, the guided two-hour tour reveals a unique birds-eye view of one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
Guests visit the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust (VFTW),a non-profit whose mission is to advance environmental conservation through hands-on wildlife research, the management of a veterinary laboratory and rehabilitation facility and the education of local peoples in the sustainable usage of natural resources. The Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary and Orphanage was established as a safe haven for orphaned and injured elephants after culling operations in the 1980s. The resident herds roam freely through the wilderness concession, and when guests visit the Sanctuary, they are taken to the elephant, not the other way around. The Elephant Encounter is best described as an experience and not an activity. Our goal is to have visitors spend time connecting with resident herds in the most positive and natural way possible while learning about this keystone species and gaining a deeper understanding of conservation initiatives.
In an open thatch boma on the edge of the Masuwe River in the Sanctuary, guests will listen to a presentation by one of our experienced elephant caretakers. They will learn about the history of the Sanctuary, the elephants, and the rescue-rehabilitate-reintegrate program. Then, guests venture out to where the herd has chosen to spend the afternoon. They are invited to take photographs, observe and immersive themselves in the experience.
The Zambezi River Sunset Cruise is one of the most popular activities in Victoria Falls. Typically lasting around two hours, the luxury Zambezi Royal cruise explores sections of the upper Zambezi close to the Victoria Falls and further upstream where the Zambezi and Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Parks flank the river. Guests can look forward to 5-star service, hot & cold canapés, creative cocktails and a selection of beverages. The cruise captain will give a brief presentation on the journey of the Zambezi while guests enjoy the stunning scenery on the upper Zambezi River.
