The Abraha Atsbeha Church situated in Tigray, Ethiopia, is a rock-hewn church that is considered as one of the more exceptional rock-hewn churches in the area, and it is also one of the easiest to reach. The church is set on the side of a rocky cliff and was chiselled out of the mountain and excavated in one piece. The church has a massive cross-shaped interior decorated with 17th to 18th-century murals and an intricately carved roof that is supported by decorated arches and thick cross-shaped pillars.
