Beco do Batman is located in the Vila Madalena neighbourhood of São Paulo and is named after the popular DC Comics character Batman which was painted on one of the walls in the 1980s. The area is a popular tourist destination due to the concentration of graffiti that line the streets. Local art students began filling the walls with other psychedelic and cubist-influenced designs, and the graffiti is now continually renovated and cared for by local community members.
