Peratallada is found in Catalonia near the northeast coast of Spain. This medieval village is known for its preserved heritage as one of the most fortified medieval towns in Spain; however, its laidback, well-serviced atmosphere (the film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was shot here), as well as its proximity to the Costa Brava, make it popular with a variety of travellers. Culture enthusiasts will enjoy wandering the cobblestoned streets of this moat-fortified town taking in the old stone buildings – such as the Cathedral Santa Coloma de Fitor, which offers guided tours, and the Peratallada Castle, built in stages between the 11th and 14th centuries (now a hotel) – all the while darting in and out of boutique stores, courtyard cafes and galleries. Finally, art lovers should tour the Dali Museum in nearby Figueres.
