Gravity defying, ultra-modern architecture and breathtaking Atlantic Ocean views define the latest addition to Ellerman House’s luxury accommodation. Separate to Ellerman House yet on the same property, Villa Two offers all the benefits of being attached to one of the most exclusive small hotels in the world coupled with life’s ultimate luxuries – complete privacy and discreet personal service tailor made to the individual. Designed with the discerning luxury traveller in mind, Villa Two is ideally suited to families or groups of friends. In contrast to the old-world elegance of the original Ellerman House, Villa Two and sister residence Villa One add a glamorous, contemporary edge to the hotel’s classic style and refined ambience.
With three bedrooms, spacious entertainment areas and an infinity pool, the new villa epitomises the glamorous beach lifestyle for which Cape Town has become world famous. Like the original Ellerman House Villa One, it is the quintessential ocean-view retreat – set apart, high up, away from the crowds. Its Bantry Bay location, one of the most sought-after residential suburbs in Cape Town, offers shelter from the prevailing Southeaster wind in summer and spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the dramatic mountain scenery characteristic of the rugged Cape Peninsula.
Linking the two levels of the villa to each other is a piece of functional art: a helix-inspired staircase forged out of stainless steel by Cape Town blacksmith Conrad Hicks that catches the light and appears to be floating.
Level three (top floor):
Private, secure parking leads to an entrance foyer with glimpses of the sea before opening out into spacious, open-plan living and dining rooms with a professionally designed kitchen, equipped with a central island, sleek timber cupboards, a separate scullery and walk-in cold room. The kitchen is designed for social, interactive cooking and casual dining but can be closed off completely from the formal dining area by a sliding panel. A personal chef is on call to create delicious snacks, breakfasts, lunches and dinners, emphasising fresh, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients while taking into consideration children, dietary restrictions and food allergies.
The light-filled living areas, in soft, soothing sea tones with natural stone and unembellished wood finishes, feature fold-away glass doors on two sides, seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor entertainment areas with the ocean views. Entertainment areas extend outdoors onto generous terraces and a private infinity pool that merges with the blue of sky and sea.
Level two (middle floor):
Opening up off an inviting central corridor is a guest bathroom, study area, cinema, and three luxuriously appointed bedrooms each with an extensive open-plan dressing room and bathroom and separate W/C. The rooms are named Sea Point, Clifton and Bantry Bay, according to their geographical orientation within the villa. Each bedroom extends outdoors onto a private terrace.
Level One (ground floor):
The Ellerman House Wine Gallery, which reveals the history of South Africa wine through innovative, custom-designed artistic features and displays, is also a showcase for the property’s vast wine collection featuring 7500 bottles, many of them vintage or rare South African wines. A Champagne cellar exclusively stocks Dom Perignon.

INTRODUCTION
Four years ago when the owner of Ellerman House, Paul Harris, decided to create a unique space to showcase South African wines, the brief he gave to the architectural and design team was to come up with an original concept for a wine gallery, rather than just a tasting room or cellar – something that had never been seen or done before anywhere in the world.
The end result is the collaborative genius of a dynamic and diverse team of highly creative South Africans, led by architect Michael Dennett, sculptor Angus Taylor, blacksmith and sculptor Conrad Hicks, industrial designer Brian Steinhobel, and designers Trevyn and Julian McGowan of Southern Guild and Source.
‘The wine gallery is much more than a functional space – it’s a work of art,’ comments Harris. Here, tasting the finest wines from the Cape’s local vineyards or sipping a 20-year old brandy is elevated to an experience that touches all the senses. Integrating contemporary architectural design solutions with breathtaking sculpture and cutting-edge design, the wine gallery invites you on an interactive journey into the wonderful world of wine.
Fine art is the soul of Ellerman House, and our collection sets us apart from other fine hotels in South Africa. This grand assortment of works has been assembled over three decades, and features a uniquely South African twist.
The originals span over a century, from the 1910 Volschenk of an undeveloped Camps Bay, to contemporary works from Vusi Khumalo. While Cape paintings were the original focus, the scope grew with the collection, and now encompasses an intriguing cross-section of genres representing a hundred years of South African culture. December 2009 marked the birth of Ellerman House Contemporary, a modern art gallery created to delight guests with the South African artists we love. Ever-evolving, the collection is rotated every season.
Our guests are warmly invited to take the Ellerman House Art Tour.
The Ellerman Spa invites pure indulgence, sea views and ultra-modern facilities. Complete with three treatment rooms, a colour therapy steam room, large sauna and unique infinity pool, being pampered has never been quite so luxurious.
Secluded in the lush gardens near the swimming pool, the Ellerman House fitness facilities offer a fully equipped gym for the more energetic. With its state-of-the-art equipment, sauna and change rooms, guests can enjoy an invigorating workout while looking out over views of the endless Atlantic Ocean.
The Ellerman House Library offers guests a collection of fiction and nonfiction titles, plus magazines from around the world. Our guests love to sit and read books in the morning, or enjoy an after-dinner drink by the fireplace.
For convenience, a nearby computer and printer are connected to the network and available for complimentary guest use.
The Pantry is your guilty pleasure. Fresh, homemade treats are prepared daily, making it perfect for a light snack between meals, or for grabbing supplies before heading out for the day.
