Hol Chan Marine Reserve is located off the coast of Belize near Ambergris Caye, forming a protected marine area within the Belize Barrier Reef system. Visitors can snorkel, dive, and explore the different zones of the reserve, observing marine life in its natural habitat. The reserve was established in 1987 as Belize’s first marine protected area and includes coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove ecosystems, managed to support conservation, research, and sustainable use while protecting important habitats for a wide range of species.
