The quaint town of Darling was once little more than a one-horse farming town that provided a pit stop en route to the West Coast or the mountains of the interior, but in recent years, it has evolved into a quirky tourist attraction of its own right. This is partly due to the establishment of the Darling Wine Route but is also related to the town’s burgeoning reputation as an arts and crafts centre, with several galleries and craft shops popping up across town, as well as the presence of much-loved local comedian Pieter Dirk-Uys, who relocated to Darling several years ago to open the Evita se Perron theatre, where he performs regularly.
