Mana Pools National Park, situated on the Zambezi River and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers spectacular views of the river, its floodplains, riverine woodland, and the mountains of Zambia’s Rift Valley escarpment in the distance. Majestic ana trees line the river and its waters hold impressive concentrations of hippo, Nile crocodile, and healthy populations of tigerfish and bream. "Mana”, meaning "four" in Shona, refers to the four main pools (Main, Chine, Long, and Chisambuk) – remnant ox-bow lakes from the Zambezi's past course – that, along with other inland pools, hold water year-round, attracting diverse wildlife including elephant, buffalo, zebra, various antelope, lion, leopard, and African wild dog.
