Bitexco Financial Tower is one of Saigon’s signature modern landmarks, rising above District 1 with a distinctive, tapered silhouette. It’s a good contrast to the city’s older colonial buildings, and it gives you a sense of just how quickly Saigon has transformed.

The main reason to come is the view, with an observation deck that looks out over the Saigon River, the dense low-rise neighbourhoods, and the growing cluster of high-rises across the water. On a clear day, it’s a great way to orient yourself, especially if you’ve been weaving through busy streets and want a “big picture” moment.

Even if you don’t go up, the base area is worth a quick look, with the building’s sleek curves and the constant flow of city life around it. It also works well as a convenient stop between other District 1 sights, with plenty of cafés nearby if you want a break.

Try to visit late afternoon for softer light, then stay through dusk if timings work, as the city looks completely different once the lights come on. Avoid the middle of the day if it’s hazy, as Saigon’s humidity can flatten the view. If you’re heading up, go a little earlier or later to dodge the biggest crowds and get more time at the windows.
