The Museo Santuarios Andinos is a cultural and scientific museum operated by the Universidad Católica de Santa María in Arequipa. Located within the historic Casa de la Cultura, the museum is dedicated to the study and exhibition of high‑altitude Inca sanctuaries and ritual offerings. Its most renowned exhibit is Juanita, the Lady of Ampato, one of the best‑preserved frozen Inca mummies, discovered in 1995 on the Ampato volcano as part of the Capacocha ritual. The museum presents a guided visitor route through several exhibition rooms displaying ceramics, textiles, organic materials and ceremonial objects found alongside the mummy. Informative audiovisual material explains the archaeological discovery and its cultural significance. Following its reopening in 2021, the museum resumed welcoming local residents and tourists, offering a carefully curated experience that highlights Inca spirituality, archaeology and Andean heritage.
