This is one of the best volcano tours in the world! After 45 min by transport from Pto. Villamil you reach the entrance to this reserve from where we start our hike. The hike is long in terms of distance (14km / approx. 3-4 hrs), but not very difficult as the inclines and declines are very gradual. Sierra Negra Volcano has the second largest crater in the world, measuring approximately 6 miles in diameter and 300 feet deep – and its an active volcano!

Th hike to Sierra Negra takes about 2 to 3 hours total. If you include Volcan Chico, the hike takes easily 4 to 5 hours in total.
