Knysna Elephant Park, located between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay in South Africa, is a pioneering sanctuary for orphaned African elephants. At this attraction, visitors can enjoy extraordinary encounters with the resident herd, observing them in a free-range environment that encourages natural behavior. Activities include guided educational interactions, early morning and late afternoon elephant experiences, volunteering opportunities, and family-friendly visits with facilities such as a restaurant, playground, and curio shop. Notably, the park was established in 1994 as the first facility in South Africa to care for orphaned elephants, and today it houses the country’s largest domesticated matriarchal herd.
