Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes is located in Punakaiki, New Zealand, and is a spectacular sight to see. These majestic cliff formations started forming around 30 million years ago due to earthquake activity and erosion. Today, the cliffs and ravines resemble stacked pancakes and during high tide, huge amounts of water combined with air are forced up through tunnels deep inside the cliffs. Visitors can reach this spectacular work of nature via a well-maintained walkway which leads through native forest and informative signage can be found along the way.
