The Umeda District is also known as the Kita or North District of Osaka. The large station complex containing the Osaka and Umeda stations make this the transport hub of the city.

Umeda is also a lively shopping, dining and entertainment district with an extensive network of underground shopping malls and department stores.

One of the most prominent and unique landmarks of Umeda is the Sky Building consisting of two skyscrapers that are only joined at the top floors.

The building is home to the Floating Garden Observatory that offers 360-degree views of the city. Other must-see destinations include the Hankyu Entertainment Park, the Tennoji Zoo, the Shitennō-ji Temple and the National Bunraku Theater, a puppet theater showcasing one of the oldest traditional art forms in Japan.
