Nara Park is one of Japan's oldest public parks, located in central Nara, at the foot of Mount Wakakusa.
The park is home to plenty of freely roaming and relatively tame deer, which are considered in Shinto to be messengers of the gods.
The park's 1200 deer are a symbol of the city, as well as a natural treasure. Visitors are able to buy crackers that are sold around the park, and feed them to the deer.
