Itsukushima Shrine is a Shinto shrine, located in the city of Hatsukaichi on Miyajima Island.

The shrine and its torii gate were built over water, with the illusion that they are floating on the sea during high tide.

The shrine complex is composed of many buildings, including a prayer hall, main hall, as well as a noh theatre stage, linked together by boardwalks and supported by pillars above the sea.
