Also known as the Sumiyoshi Grand Shrine, Sumiyoshi Taisha is the main shrine of all the Sumiyoshi shrines in Japan.
As one of the most renowned shrines in the country, it is visited by more than two million worshippers at the beginning of each year who come to pray for health and prosperity for the new year.
The grounds feature many spiritual spots that provide a profound sense of history with structures such as the Sorihashi arched bridge - an emblem of Sumiyoshi Taisha, numerous cultural properties, and the main shrine hall, which is a designated national treasure.
