Making up the northern tip of the Ishikawa prefecture, the remote Noto Peninsula is the largest peninsula on Japan’s western coast. The entire peninsula has been designated as a national park, the Noto-hanto Quasi-National Park. This rugged headland is dotted with rural villages and is known for its spectacular coastal scenery, featuring unspoilt seascapes with densely-forested shores and rugged rocky outcrops. Visitors can enjoy many attractions including: the village of Wajima, home to one of Japan’s largest morning markets; the laidback Wakura-onsen, a hot spring town boasting seawater hot springs; and Rokkosaki Lighthouse at the northern Rokkosaki Point.
