Samaria Gorge is situated on the island of Crete, Greece. The gorge is 16km long and starts at an altitude of 1,250m above sea level at its northern entrance and ends at the shores of Agia Roumeli. A well-known part of the gorge is referred to as the Gates, where the sides of the gorge soar up to 300m. The park is also home to the rare kri-kri as well as other species of birds and flowers.
