The Moní Filosofou is a famous Greek monastery, very picturesquely situated on the west bank of the Lousios gorge . It is dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God and takes its name from its founder, John Lambardopoulos who was hofdignitaris Emperor Nicephorus Phocas , and nicknamed the philosopher wore.
