Sitatunga Private Island in Botswana's Okavango Delta is built on a raised, wrap-around railway sleeper private deck using entirely recycled materials. It can accommodate up to eight guests as part of Great Plains Conservation's latest Okavango Delta water-based Réserve-Collection Safari Camp.
Sitatunga Private Island is an extraordinary place. It is a private island and is one of the few locations where one can still see the rare aquatic antelope from camp and by boat, which is the main activity here in addition to walking on the island. It is deep Okavango Delta and, as such, is rich in birding. Head out on a boat to view elephants, crocodiles, and hippos all day, every day.
The exquisite Réserve level camp is pushing the eco-design boundary in a remote region in Botswana whilst also offering the highest level of hospitality and accommodation with incredible activities to enjoy in the wilderness.
Sitatunga Private Island, entirely surrounded by water, has a blue theme. This is barefoot luxury, but not far from the crocodiles and hippos in the deep reed bed lined channels of one of the greatest rivers on Earth.

The Sitatunga Private Island Suite is a predominantly water-based activity camp with wildlife and bird viewing from a powerboat.
Explore the Okavango Delta’s permanent channels by mokoro (when water levels allow). This is truly an invigorating, yet peaceful, experience allowing for wildlife and birding viewing from a unique perspective.
If stretching one’s legs and getting a feel for Africa by foot is the guest’s preference, then it’s possible to
arrange morning walks on the island.
Tag and release fishing is available from March to December each year.
Custom-built boat offering swivel chairs specifically allowing for enhanced wildlife photographic
opportunities from the water channels; Because we focus on photographic safaris, the Sitatunga Private Island Suite has a professional camera set, including a camera body and lenses. Photos will be downloaded to a USB flash stick on guest’s departure.
The Suite comes with a pair of high-quality binoculars for guest use as well.
Enjoy an aerial viewing experience with great scenery across the northern part of the Okavango Delta. Add a 15-minute champagne stop on palm island en route. Must be booked in advance and is subject to extra cost and availability.
