Kakuli, "Old Buffalo", is beautiful camp at the confluence of the Luwi and Luangwa rivers in the South Luangwa National Park of Zambia. It has recently been upgraded to provide a superior standard of bush accommodation and joins its sister camp, Mchenja, as one of the nicest bush camps in the South Luangwa.

Kakuli Camp has five spacious and traditional walk-in safari tents under thatch to provide shade in the African sun. Each has an en-suite open air bathroom made from natural Zambian materials. All of the tents overlook the river with stunning views up and down this hippo-packed stretch of the Luangwa.

The bar and dining 'chitenje' at Kakuli is constructed of reed and thatch forming the centre point of camp. It is on a wooden deck which offers the perfect spot in which to relax and watch the wildlife meander by. This area of the South Luangwa Park offers guests some of the best game viewing opportunities in Zambia. The game activities of Kakuli camp are a mix of walking safaris and game drives. You can decide each day if you want to venture out on foot or with the vehicle.

Norman Carr Safaris is one of the oldest safari operators in the South Luangwa National Park. Norman Carr Safaris also runs Kapani Safari Lodge in the central South Luangwa and three other bush camps, Luwi, Nsolo and Mchenja. Each of the bush camps is designed to be different in style with different habitats (and therefore varied game). Kakuli Camp is sometimes at the end of such a safari with clients walking from camp to camp following the course of the Luwi River.
