A hill of 130 metres, Montmartre rises above the northern part of Paris. It belongs to the 18th arrondissement, on the Right Bank of the Seine. Montmartre has a rich artistic heritage, as many famous painters and writers lived and worked there. The white-domed Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur stands on its summit, a symbol of faith and devotion. Montmartre is also a lively nightlife area, with many bars and clubs to enjoy.
