The Kenya National Archives and Documentation Service is located at the edge of the central business district in downtown Nairobi. The archives were officially established by an Act of Parliament in 1965 and were placed under the office of the Vice-President and the Minister of Home Affairs. The archives preserve valuable public records as part of the information resources of the Republic of Kenya and make them accessible to present and future generations. Currently, it stores over 40 000 documents under is under the office of the Vice President and the Minister of Home Affairs.
