Located in Bangkok's Chinatown, Wat Tramit is home to the Golden Buddha statue called Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan Patimakon, depicting the subduing Mara Mudra. It was not until the mid-1950s that the actual value and identity of the figure were known that the statue was made of solid gold. This giant Buddha statue is 3m tall, weighs about five-and-a-half tons and is about 800 years old.
