The Alphen Hotel, home to Blanko, is set in over 11 acres of lush gardens. The 17th-century historical treasure has the oldest surviving mill on the Cape Peninsula. Originally, it was part of the Groot Constantia Estate, and the first in South Africa to produce and sell its own wine. Captain James Cook, the explorer, famous authors Mark Twain and George Bernard Shaw, and captains of industry and politics have slept beneath its roof.
