Katherine Gorge is located in the Nitmiluk National Park and is one of the most visited sites in Australia’s Northern Territory. The gorge is 12 km long and consists of a network of thirteen gorges carved from billion-year-old sandstone with many rapids and falls flowing from the Katherine River.
Several tour operators in the area offer boat cruises through this stunning waterscape with its sheer rock face walls and scenery that just becomes more striking as one heads further into the gorge. A typical cruise can take around two hours and may include stops for swimming and short hikes. Visitors will have the opportunity to observe freshwater crocodiles, wonderful bird life and some of the most amazing scenery that the Northern Territory has to offer.
