Located within the Elsey National Park near the small township of Mataranka in Australia’s Northern Territory, the warm, crystal-clear spring water of the Mataranka Thermal Pool is believed to have soothing properties that relieve muscular aches and pains and other ailments. The pool is surrounded by a paperbark and palm forest which is the natural breeding ground for the little red flying foxes which can usually be seen between November and May each year and sometimes even later than that. During the wet season, from November to April the pool may be inaccessible due to flooding.
