Windhoek is the capital of Namibia, in the country’s central highlands.  A tour of the city shows you the rich history of the relatively small city.    On a hilltop in the city center are the 1890s Alte Feste, a former military headquarters with historical exhibits, the Independence Memorial Museum, the 'Ink Palace' which is the building of Parliament with its parliament gardens and one of the most photographed landmarks, the Christ Church, a sandstone building towering above the city center.  The main street has many old buildings dating back to the 1900's alongside modern high rise architecture.
