Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Laikipia County, Kenya, is a protected refuge for rescued chimpanzees within a managed conservation area. Visitors can observe chimpanzees at close range, including during feeding times, and enjoy behind-the-scenes access to learn about their daily care, enrichment activities, and behaviour with guidance from experienced caregivers. Established in 1993 through a partnership between Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the Kenya Wildlife Service and the Jane Goodall Institute, the sanctuary provides a secure home for orphaned and abused chimpanzees, which are not indigenous to Kenya, and remains the only place in the country where they can be seen.
