The Knesset Menorah is a bronze monument located at the edge of Gan Havradim, in front of the Knesset gates. It was designed by Benno Elkan, a Jewish sculptor who worked at the project for over six years. The Menorah was presented to the Knesset from the Parliament of the United Kingdom on 15 April 1956. Built in the shape of the golden candelabrum or Menorah of the Jerusalem Temple, the subjects depicted on it are drawn from the Jewish tradition. Upon the foundation of the State of Israel, it was chosen as it’s emblem, to symbolize the continuity and eternity of the Jewish people.
