Located on Castle Hill, Ljubljana Castle is an iconic symbol of the Slovenian capital Ljubljana. The castle was originally a fortress which was constructed during the 11th century and rebuilt in the 12th century. From the early 14th century, the castle was the seat of the lords of Carniola and has been used or a variety of purposes since the 19th century. The castle grounds are great for long strolls and near the lively city centre. The Ljubljana castle also offers many cultural, historic and entertaining events throughout the year.
