The Colobus monkey is easy to recognize with a mainly black body, accented with contrastingly white features on their face, back and tail. Although infants start off entirely white  and are easy to spot clinging onto their mother's black underbelly. These monkeys are the rock stars of the primate world, who’s V-shaped white back fur will flap in the wind as they perform gravity defying jumps from branch to branch in the high tree tops. They are an arboreal species, so you will rarely if ever see them on the ground. Visitors are certain to see playful interactions by this very social breed during the 1 hours you have with them. The name 'colobus' derives from the Greek word to mean 'maimed', as unlike other monkeys, they do not have thumbs.
